Sometimes it begins earlier and lasts longer. How caused: The rainy season is caused by monsoon. The south-west monsoon that blows from the Bay of Bengal over Bangladesh brings much vapor. This causes a heavy rainfall in Bangladesh. Description: During the rainy season the sky remains cloudy. Sometimes the sun is not visible. During this time it rains cats and dogs. It also rains for days together. Roads become muddy. Rivers, canals and ponds are filled with water. They overflow the banks. Fields go under water. Usefulness: The rainy season is surely a blessing for our country. Bangladesh is an agricultural country and most of the crops here depend on the rain water. Rain water makes our soil fertile. It washes away the filth and dirt from the earths surface. It also purifies the atmosphere. Men can easily go from one place to another by boat. Disadvantages: The rainy season is not always blessing for us all the times. In the rainy season the roads become muddy and slippery. The poor and the day laborer suffer much. They cannot go out of door for work. Cattle do not get their food properly. Various diseases like cholera, typhoid, and dysentery break out. Sometimes excessive rainfall causes floods that do lot damage to our lives and property. Conclusion: Though the rainy season has its demerits, it is a blessing to the economy of our country and the prosperity of our people. It helps the nature to gain a new life. We always welcome this season and enjoy its beauty.
